For administrative purposes, SOC Online Academy organizes its calendar in 3 semesters, however students may enroll in and begin an online course at any time.

SOC Online Academy is able to provide admission within a working week, usually in 2-3 days if all information has been provided.

Students who are studying online from outside Canada do not require this service, however we are happy to provide custodianship for those who will travel to Canada. International students under the age of 18 who do not have a  parent or legal guardian in Canada are required by law to have a Custodian. We provide custodianship service, which allows a staff member to act in place of a parent or guardian in the event of an emergency. A Custodian Declaration Form will be sent along with your Conditional Letter of Acceptance (CLOA).

Students who are studying online from outside Canada do not require a visa or study permit. We are happy to provide these services for those who will travel to Canada during or after their online studies.

Applications for both Visas and Study Permits should be submitted online at MyCIC (cic.ga.ca). Students under the age of 16 require a parent or agent to set up an online account on their behalf. All Canadian immigration fees are paid online via credit card only.

Online studies allows students to work independently at their own pace. Classes are built around 110 hours of study.

You need to earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). The OSSD is granted to students who earn a minimum of 30 credits, pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) and complete 40 hours of Community Service.

The number will depend on your previous schooling and how many equivalent credits you can transfer. Please check here for more on equivalency credits.

If you have done 2 years or 3 years of high school in your home country, you should be able to finish the OSSD program in 3 – 5 semesters. If you are an ESL student then you will have to take ESL courses in addition to the regular program.

We will assess you to determine your ESL levels and plan a program for you.

Once your application is accepted, we will send you the instruction on how to choose courses and make payments. You can do these in Catalog.

We do not specifically prepare students for IELTS, however our ESL programs are designed with IELTS tests in mind.

Official start date: November 1 in each year. And yes, student can start the course whenever they want.

SOC Online uses Canvas, a market-leading Learning Management System. It allows students to submit their homework and assignments online in a secure environment Teachers can access the built-in plagiarism checking system to maintain academic integrity. 

Online studies are by their nature independent, and students work at their own pace. However, in some cases, especially with partnership schools, students may be connected via online classes where they will be expected to join live online sessions and share learning online.
